In the spirit of our successful poll for Street Fighter 6's fourth season, we're bringing the same excitement to Tekken 8, which will soon be releasing its third season. With the Tekken World Tour Finals set to take place in my home country of Sweden at the end of January, we can expect some exciting reveals for the next season. But who are you hoping to see?
To ensure a fair and comprehensive poll, I had to make some decisions regarding the entries. For instance, since King II and Armor King II have completely replaced their predecessors, retaining their moveset and personality, I opted not to include the first iterations of either character. It's also worth noting that both of them are canonically dead in the series.
Other characters, such as Michelle Chang and Forest Law, were separated in the Tekken Tag Tournament games, so I included them separately in the poll. Violet's inclusion was a tougher decision, as he's been part of the series both as a separate fighter and as an alternate costume. However, since he's not currently present as a named fighter in Tekken 8, he's included in the poll, despite essentially just being an alternate costume for Lee Chaolan.
Despite no guest character having returned in the franchise thus far, I still included them as separate fighters to gauge fan interest in seeing specific fighters return as guests. Finally, I chose to separate potential newcomers into different categories, one for brand new Tekken characters and one for existing Tekken characters who haven't been playable yet.
Guest characters also received two separate categories, one for characters from franchises already part of Tekken (Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, Final Fantasy, and The Walking Dead) and a separate one for characters from franchises that haven't been in Tekken yet (such as the long-requested Yakuza guest character).
Now, with all that out of the way, get to voting and make your voice heard. You never know, the developers might just be paying attention. After all, Katsuhiro Harada himself is known for his keen interest in statistics. Although I'm a hardcore Lili loyalist, I have characters I'd like to see join Tekken 8, either to play as sub characters or simply because I enjoy having them in the game.
